This tap is for 1.6 mm screws. Use a 1.25mm or 3/64 drill bit to create a pilot hole for the tap when converting Marine Band 1896 to screws or you can use the tap to convert older, plastic-combed 64 Chromonicas to screws – no need to drill pilot holes on these. Use with Tap handle, pin vise or low speed cordless drill.
